Problem Statement

Users are struggling to find and attend events with like-minded people, which limits their ability to fully enjoy and engage in social experiences. Current solutions in the market lack seamless group coordination, personalized event discovery, and meaningful community interaction, creating an opportunity for a more intuitive, connected approach. Everything’s happening, just not in one place.

For travelers, newcomers, and anyone looking for something to do, finding local events shouldn’t mean jumping between five different apps. From trivia nights to food festivals, the city is full of life, but there’s no streamlined way to discover it all. Eventure brings everything into one smart, beautifully designed feed so you can find your next experience without the noise.

Going out is better with company, but finding the right people can be a struggle.

Whether you're new in town or just don’t feel like flying solo, finding someone to go with can be the hardest part. Most platforms focus on couples or close circles, leaving little room for casual, platonic plans. Eventure changes that, making it simple to connect with others headed to the same event. No pressure, just shared vibes.

Great events don’t always start big, and they shouldn't be hard to share.

From local creators to everyday users, people want to bring others together, but most platforms don’t make it easy unless you’re hosting something massive. Eventure gives anyone the tools to create, share, and grow their own events, connect with groups, and build real-world moments that start small and grow naturally.

Competitor Analysis

Understanding the landscape to create something better

Facebook Events

Facebook Events allows users to create, discover, and RSVP to events within the Facebook ecosystem. It's one of the most widely-used event discovery tools, especially for social gatherings and local events. However, its focus on pre-existing social circles and its outdated interface has made it less appealing to younger users. Eventure differentiates itself by targeting spontaneous connections. Unlike Facebook Events, which assumes users are attending with friends, Eventure helps users find and connect with others who are also attending events, no social ties required. Eventure’s modern design and mobile-first experience appeal to younger, more social media-savvy users who seek new people and experiences.

Eventbrite

Eventbrite is a popular platform for event organizers to create, promote, and sell tickets for various events. While it is an industry leader in event management and ticketing, it doesn’t emphasize the social aspect of attending events. Eventure, on the other hand, focuses on helping users find events and connect with others attending them, making it ideal for users looking for casual social plans. While Eventbrite is great for formal events, like conferences and concerts, Eventure is designed for more spontaneous, one-off gatherings, where the social connection is just as important as the event itself.

Heellife

HeelLife is a campus-specific platform designed for students at UNC Chapel Hill to discover and RSVP to local events. It offers useful features like advanced event filtering and tracking of co-curricular activities, but its user experience can be cumbersome, with inconsistent functionality and a lack of personalization. The design is sterile and professional, but it lacks the engaging, social aspect that could make event discovery more exciting for students. Unlike HeelLife, Eventure focuses on connecting users with others attending events, offering a more personalized and dynamic experience that goes beyond event listing and tracking. While HeelLife is great for organizing and engaging with campus-specific events, Eventure provides a broader, more flexible platform that helps users discover events and form social connections, whether they’re on campus or beyond.

User Interviews

Real insights from real people

"When I travel, I’m always trying to find stuff that’s actually unique to the place, like cool pop-ups or cultural events, but it’s honestly hard to find those on apps like Google Maps or TripAdvisor. Most of the time, I have to ask locals or just stumble into something. I’d love an app that just shows me everything going on nearby, especially the stuff locals are into. Bonus points if I can see who else is going and maybe even find people to go with."

— Luca Basilio, 22, Biomedical Engineering Student at UNC

"I usually find things to do through TikTok, quick videos help me see what an event’s really like. I travel with friends, so I look for social stuff we can all enjoy. It’s frustrating when info online is outdated or repetitive. I’d love an app with a clean layout, map view, and the option to join groups where I can see who else is going."

- Jess, 27, Marketing Coordinator

“I usually travel for specific events, like skiing or concerts, and plan everything through Google. It’s hard to discover new stuff—social media doesn’t help much, and every site feels different. I’d love one app that shows local events clearly, with prices, distance from where I’m staying, and no clutter.”

- Josh, 22, Data Science Student at UNC

Final Conclusions

What we learned and what's next

Throughout the design and development of Eventure, we focused on solving a key challenge: making it easier for users to discover local events and connect with others in meaningful, low-pressure ways. By listening closely to our users, analyzing competitor shortcomings, and prioritizing accessibility and usability, we created an experience that not only meets but exceeds user expectations.

Key accomplishments include:

  • We streamlined the event discovery process, consolidating fragmented sources into one intuitive, visually engaging feed. Users no longer need to bounce between multiple apps to find out what’s happening nearby.
  • Eventure removes the awkwardness of going out alone by allowing users to connect with others attending the same events, no prior relationship needed, just shared interests.
  • Whether it’s a backyard concert or a casual game night, users can easily create, share, and grow their own events, supporting grassroots organizing and local culture.
  • From visual contrast to keyboard navigation, Eventure was designed to be accessible for all users, ensuring inclusivity across devices and abilities.
  • A 94% task completion rate and a 4.8/5 satisfaction score proved the app’s ease of use, appeal, and competitive edge, with 100% of participants preferring Eventure over existing solutions.

Looking forward, we plan to expand the application by:

  • Based on user feedback, we’re exploring features that recommend events to groups of friends or travelers, not just individuals.
  • We're looking into partnerships with local venues, food trucks, and artists to populate the event feed with even more authentic, community-based experiences.
  • Future iterations will include smarter, interest-based attendee matching to improve the quality of social connections formed through the app.

Eventure proves that with empathy-driven design and iterative development, it’s possible to turn everyday city moments into unforgettable shared experiences. We're excited to continue building a platform that helps people not just find events, but find each other.
